WORDS+DREAMS is very excited to announce the release of Brooklyn native Guilty Ghosts’ debut full length, Veils, next Tuesday, May 29. In celebration of coming back together almost two years to the day of W+D’s inaugural release, Guilty Ghosts’ excellent Enigma Variations, W+D presents each tape as part of a deluxe bundle that includes stickers, a bonus mix CD, and comes packed in a beautiful hand-screened cotton satchel.
Listening to Veils is like dropping the needle of the groove of your favorite record, only to find that the songs you knew have been replaced, but strangely, it feels just as much like home. Says Guilty Ghosts’ Tristan O’Donnell, “a veil in most religions signifies a commitment to, and a representation of, a belief or an ideal. It is used to protect what is sacred, and symbolize personal devotion — a shield, and a badge. These songs are an expression of that tension.” From the aptly-named “Late Night Voyages,” perfect for a night drive through urban canyons and dead-dark rural backroads, to the distorted slow-build of “Great Malevolent Withholder,” Veils’ beautiful songcraft lodges itself in your psyche, ready to emerge as the sun recedes and the gloaming creeps.

About Guilty Ghosts:
Guilty Ghosts represents the musical endeavors of Tristan O’Donnell. Drone guitars, breakbeats, and tape loops all find their way into his unique style of ambient guitar music. His songs are the kind fit for rainy days, everlasting evenings, and melancholy moments in solitude. Tristan, a life-long Brooklynite, recorded “Veils” at home. Vocal collaborations from Sea Oleena (Canada) and Guerre (Australia) were done via internet file exchange. Additional guitars are played by longtime friend and collaborator Luke Hill.
About WORDS+DREAMS:
WORDS+DREAMS is a Brooklyn-based tape label. W+D started in May of 2010 with little more than a concept and two Nakamichi CR-1As. After briefly graduating to a pro-grade Tascam 202mkII, W+D now has its cassettes pro-dubbed, and spends time curating unique releases that take advantage of the particular sonic qualities of ferro-chromatic tape.

there will be updates…
so i refuse to be one of those musicians that ends up posting mixtapes when they should be working on new music or preparing one of the aforementioned projects that have been forthcoming for far too long (shots fired - at myself)…
it’s a slippery slope when you have a space that’s all your own, where you can throw up youtube videos or threads about shit that you like, at any time you like (shots fired [reprise])
well thankfully i can actually back this by saying i actually have updates this time.
i’m happy to announce that the 10” split w/asentimentalsong from Harding Street Assembly Lab is coming. i got the copies in the mail today and they sound and look amazing.
i will be selling a limited number of copies at the MERCH store beginning next week.
and as for the full-length…
VEILS, will be getting the tape release as promised. matt and i are still in the midst of getting all the materials for the bundle. they will be worth the anticipation and a unique collectible item for sure.
and, on top of all that,
i’m working on new music.
there i said it.
it’s out in the ether.
therefore it must be true.
